Zuni Multi-Stone Fetish and Heishi Necklace c. 1970s, 27" Long (J9952)

18g, 27" length. Stones include turquoise, mother of pearl, abalone, coral, spiny oyster, serpentine, and jet. Acquired from a private collection in Arizona. The owner inherited this necklace from her mother-in-law who purchased it in the 1960s, or earlier. The word "heishi" means "shell," although today it is often used to describe the cut style of beads that are small, flat, disc-shapes.
