This pottery is in very good condition, with slight surface wear. Signed by the artist on the bottom. Acquired from a private collection in Arizona. The owner inherited this item from her father, who collected over the past twenty years. Teresita Naranjo was a master potter who has been acknowledged as one of the finest Santa Clara Pueblo potters of the 20th century. Teresita is known as the first potter to carve outside the linear band, creating deep carvings with designs that seem to flow around the surface of her pottery. Her pieces can be found in the permanent collections of museums nationwide including The National Museum of the American Indian, the Denver Art Museum and the Heard.
