Susan Kliewer - Canyon Memories

Susan Kliewer's historic series "Early Days on Navajoland" depicting Navajo (Dinà) life from the late 1800s. This expressive, kindly grandmother is reaching up and picking peaches from their abundant orchards. The inspiration for this dynamic bronze comes from the oral tradition of Navajo elders, as they shared with Susan the joy of picking apples and peaches in Canyon de Chelly (before their removal). Keeping warm and positive memories, throughout all manner of hardship, is a noble and beautiful way of being!
