Maria Martinez (1887-1980) - San Ildefonso Black on Black Vase c. 1920s, 11.5" x 8.75"

This pottery is in very good condition. There is a small chip on the outer rim, and areas with small scratches and surface wear. Please see additional photos for details. Signed "Marie" on the bottom. Ex Colorado collection. Includes a copy of an appraisal letter for $5,500 from 1990. The owner acquired this from her grandparents, who purchased it directly from Maria Martinez, whom they encountered along a roadside, where she was having a pottery sale; her work was displayed upon a blanket.
