DETAILS
This piece has a slight tear on the right pocket (see photos). Lloyd Kiva New was a Cherokee fashion designer who was the first Native American artist to be featured in an international fashion show, Atlantic City International Fashion Show in 1951. His garments were often collaborative pieces with other Native artists, featuring designs that mixed together the various cultures of their heritages that still made sense in a modern Anglo world. New also co-founded the Institue of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe (1962). Ex Arizona collection.
