DETAILS
56.5" x 38.5" framed. "This Sam Stagg rigged saddle from Butte Montana, circa 1900, could easily have been used by the riders in Maynard Dixon's 1944 painting, "Red Gateway", the high-backed saddles being favored by dudes, wranglers and packers when riding the rough country of mountains or mesas. The Navajo saddle blanket of the same vintage completes the trio from a past that has stood the test of time." -L.D. Exhibited "Along the Distant Mesa: An Homage to Maynard Dixon" Mark Sublette Medicine Man Gallery, Tucson, Arizona, March 8-April 30, 2019. Featured in the Rodeo De Tucson Show February 3 - March 3rd, 2023.
