DETAILS
The Kachina is in good condition with visible signs of wear and some minor damage. The paint and decorations may show moderate fading or slight wear. There may be small chips, broken areas, cracks, or reglued areas, but the overall structure is intact. All elements are securely attached with minor signs of wear. Ex private collection, Massachusetts. This kachina was collected by Ellsworth Jaeger prior to 1955. The doll was considered 'old' at that time. Mr. Jaeger was the Hayes Professor of Science and Executive Secretary at the Buffalo Museum of Science in Buffalo, New York. He traveled widely throughout Canada, the United States, and Mexico with his wife, Zetta. He studied the cultures of the Iroquois, Blackfoot, Apache Pueblo, and Navajo - particularly their craftsmanship and methods of living off the land.
