This pottery is in near excellent condition, with only very minor scratches along the sides. Signed by the potter on the bottom. Acquired from a private collection in Massachusetts. The owner inherited this pot from her grandmother, who was the oldest of four children in a farming family in north-central Pennsylvania. Her grandmother's brothers bought ranch land in Arizona near Benson/Dragoon/Cochise, where they raised Charolais cattle. Her grandmother visited her brothers several times during the 1950s. After her own mother passed away, she worked in the kitchen of the Seventh Day Adventist Holbrook Indian School for about five years. During her time out west, she and her relatives would take trips together. The owner recalls her grandmother talking about at least one trip she had taken to New Mexico, where they visited reservations.
