"This style is a three-dimensional version of horses painted and drawn on buffalo robes and teepees in the latter half of the 19th Century on the Western plains of the American continent. Buffalo Robes and Teepees of the Native American Plains tribes were often decorated with images that represented events and personal accomplishments. These included horses and buffalo among the various designs. There was a particular style that was used, and this style was also discernable in the 'Ledger Art'... similar drawings put down on discarded book pages and ledgers that found their way into the hands of the Indian artists who created these designs." - Star Liana York
