The pottery is in near-mint condition, with no visible signs of wear, fading or damage. The surface is smooth and intact. Signed by the artist on the bottom. Ex Arizona collection. Includes a First Prize Ribbon from the Arizona State Fair, where it was purchased in 1971. Garnet Pavatea was known as "Flower Girl" and she was a Hopi-Tewa from the Tewa Village on First Mesa on the Hopi Reservation. Garnet is well-known for her plain red bowls and jars with triangular indentations around the rim as the sole decoration.
