DETAILS
This pottery is in excellent condition. Signed by the artist on the bottom. Acquired from a private collection in Arizona. Alice Cling is well-known for her pottery and is considered by some to be the most influential Navajo potter of the last 25 years. She uses a combination of rich reds, purples, browns and blacks with a smooth finish to create her distinctive pottery. Alice was taught by her mother Rose Williams, a master potter, and her aunt who are credited by some with revitalizing the art of making traditional Navajo pottery. Cling’s works have been featured in the Vice-Presidential mansion during the Carter presidency, and is in the Smithsonian’s collection. In 2006 Alice Cling was honored with the Arizona Indian Living Treasures Award.
