Mell, Ed

Mell, Ed

Collectors laud Ed Mell for his modernist take on the American West. Raised in Phoenix, Mell achieved success as a young man in New York City’s commercial art world but after 10 years in Manhattan, longed to return to Arizona to create art depicting the land he loved. In addition to the oil paintings for which he is renowned, Mell also creates bronze sculpture that features his artistic aesthetic in 3D form. His monumental sculpture of a cowboy on a bucking bronco, Jack Knife, adorns Main Street in the Scottsdale Arts District. Ed Mell’s work is part of notable private and public collections, including Diane Keaton, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tri-Star Pictures, Kartchner Caverns State Park, and Phoenix Art Museum.
