All of Victoria Roberts’s mixed media flag sculptures are commentaries on life in the United States. Monetized in Blue is a statement about the impact of lobbying in the country.
“I wanted to express the idea that the country was essentially for sale due to the increased influence of lobbying in this country,” says Roberts. “I made the flag out of advertising materials - the yardsticks that form the stripes have visible advertising on them; the bottle caps used for the stars have logos.”
