DETAILS
10'1" x 6'2.5" Tightly woven large Navajo rug from the Crystal trading post region. The warp count is 8, and the weft count is 26, per inch. This is a classic Storm Pattern design. The wool is all hand spun. The gray and cream colors are natural wool colors. The blacks and browns are over-dyed aniline colors. The red is aniline dye. This weaving is in overall good condition. It has some minor soiling. There are also two areas where there is a blue stain. There is also one valero star that has some color run from the black into the white, very slightly. On the other side of this weaving, near the same valero star, there is a slightly brown area in the grey, barely noticeable. There is one small area where it has a broken weft, in the corner with the spirit line. Lastly, the weaver had chosen to use a red warp yarn, which symbolizes rain. Acquired from a private collection in Wisconsin.
