Awa Tsireh (San Ildefonso)

San Ildefonso silversmith Awa Tsireh was born in 1895 and died in 1955. Awa Tsireh's hallmark is comprised of "AWA TSIREH" in uppercase letters - the first letter of each part of the name is a larger capital letter than the others. Often accompanied by "HAND MADE BY INDIANS" in blocky, uppercase letters. May be accompanied by the Garden of the Gods trading post flying dragon logo; Awa Tsireh worked for the trading post for several years. Awa Tsireh ("Cat Tail Bird") was born Alfonso Roybal.
