Private collection, Montana. William Robinson Leigh was born in West Virginia and was raised in Baltimore. At age 14, he trained at the Maryland Institute and regarded as one of the best students in his class. He went on to study in Europe and upon returning to the United States he worked as a magazine illustrator. He made numerous trips to the Southwest, including an extensive painting expedition through Arizona and New Mexico. Leigh's Southwest paintings reflected the realistic palette of soft pinks, reds, oranges and purples - so realistic that many critics who knew little of the Southwest accused him of fabricating the colors. Acquired from a private collection in Montana. In gallery pick up date starts October 14th by appointment. NOTE FEES CHARGED: 1.
