One of a kind. Each monotype begins as an original oil painting on sand blasted Plexiglas. Then, a piece of paper is placed over the plate and cranked through an etching press. This causes the paint to transfer from the plate to the paper and creates an image. Plates can only be used one time; thus each work is unique. Hence the name monotype.
