Jill Carver - Desert Meditations (PLV90335B-0322-005)

In contrast to Saguaro Sunset I wanted to try and capture a gentler sunset where, in the absence of clouds, the sky’s atmosphere slips from the soft evening glow and fades into yellow and then gray. Most desert paintings claim an eye level and clear the foreground to set up for the main attraction; I wanted to capture the feeling of being in the desert, below the mighty height of the saguaro, and amongst the mesquite, cholla, barrel cacti, and grasses. This was such a magical time of day for me, and I think the painting captures the peaceful sense of day’s end.
