Each framed; 64.25" x 14.25". Signed lower right. Acquired from a private collection in Colorado. Janet Lippincott was born in New York City and was exposed to modern art at an early age. She attended the Art Students League after high school. During World War II, she enlisted in the Women's Army Corps. In 1949, she drove from New York to Taos, New Mexico to attend the Emil Bisttram School of Art. Lippincott also attended the Colorado Springs Art Center and the San Francisco Art Institute on fellowships. In 1957, She settled in Santa Fe and had a studio on Canyon Road. At the time, no one was doing any modern painting and it took time for her work to be appreciated. She later exhibited at the Jamison Gallery in Santa Fe in 1972, and Bisttram gave her a wonderful review. She had numerous shows around the country and internationally, and she won many awards including the New Mexico Governor's Award as Artist of the Year. Lippincott was one of the first artists to create lithographs at the Tamarind Institute.
