Includes a copies of a photographs: artist sleeping in a hogan in 1970, artist with his wife in 1988, artist c. 1977, artist with his horse Silver in Cottonwood, AZ 1967. R. Brownell McGrew is well-known for his large paintings with brilliant color and are in collections such as the Gilcrease Museum, Cowboy Artists of America, the Eiteljorg Museum, and many private collections. The Heard Museum in Phoenix, Arizona has thousands of his photographs and his extensive journals on his trips to the Navajo and Hopi reservations. McGrew's personal pencil sketches remained with his personal papers and family collections.
