11″Signed lower right corner. 11" x 8.5" unframed. Acquired from original family. The owner is the daughter of the artist. Another portrait of the same person is published on page 35, "R. Brownell McGrew", hardcover, August 1978, Laguna Beach Museum of Art presented by the Thunderbird Foundation. This portrait is also very similar to a face used in the painting published page 14-15. This book is included. The painting on page 14-15 is also published in Arizona Highways, October 1977 issue. A copy of the magazine is included. Includes a copies of a photographs: artist sleeping in a hogan in 1970, artist with his wife in 1988, artist c. 1977, artist with his horse Silver in Cottonwood, AZ 1967. R. Brownell McGrew is well-known for his large paintings with brilliant color and are in collections such as the Gilcrease Museum, Cowboy Artists of America, the Eiteljorg Museum, and many private collections. The Heard Museum in Phoenix, Arizona has thousands of his photographs and his extensive journals on his trips to the Navajo and Hopi reservations. McGrew's personal pencil sketches remained with his personal papers and family collections.
