Navajo Turquoise and Heishi Necklace c. 1970s, 30" length (J11924)

44g, 30" length. Acquired from a private collection in New York. The owner is a retired anthropologist, who spent summers on the Native American reservations. The word "heishi" means "shell," although today it is often used to describe the cut style of beads that are small, flat, disc-shapes.
