Fisher was an oil tycoon from Oil City, PA, and the owner of Fisher Oil Company, the oldest oil company in the United States. After moving to Southern California, his many careers were all focused on energy, including lead positions in other oil companies (such as Pittsburgh Petroleum Exchange, Washington Oil Company, etc.) and president of Redlands Electric Light and Power Company, which owned Southern California Edison Company. He was succeeded by his son, John H. Fisher (d. 1944). Following in his father's footsteps, John Fisher continued to hold leadership positions in various electric and water companies. He also worked alongside prominent Hollywood filmmaker, Cecil B. DeMille.
