94.7g, 44" length, 3.5" x 2.5" bolo. Artist hallmark on verso. Bernard Dawahoya was named an Arizona Indian Living Treasure in 1989. Ex Arizona collection. The previous owner acquired this piece from Bernard's shop in Flagstaff, Arizona. Her husband was the former owner of a multi-generational Native American arts and crafts business, starting with his grandparents. During his life, he worked as an educator, Assistant to the Director of the Lowie Museum of Anthropology (now Phoebe Apperson Hearst Museum), and Director of the Arizona State Museum, all while maintaining his family business until his passing in 2008.
