Jemez Pottery

Jemez Pottery

The Jemez Pueblo of Northern New Mexico is home to contemporary potters who innovate with both the form and the style of Native American pottery. A popular type of Jemez pottery is the 3D figure, whether it be a human storyteller figurine, an animal, or a small model of a home. Jemez pottery also can be recognized by potters’ use of creative techniques, such as carved and swirled surfaces, highly detailed polychrome painting, or use of multiple colors of clay.
