13.8g, size 6.5, 1.375" x 0.875" face. Acquired from a private collection in Virginia. The owner purchased jewelry from the early 1970s through the mid-1990s. Number 8 turquoise is highly sought after by collectors. It was discovered in 1925 and was named Number 8, since it is an 8 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness. Most turquoise is 4 or 5 on the Mohs scale.
