Lisa Danielle - Keepers of the Corn
- Medium: Acrylic on Board
- Size: 24'' x 20''
34" x 30" framed. "Inspired by Maynard Dixon's 1921 painting "Guard of the Cornfields", I selected a fine old Hopi storage jar and a rattle similar to the one held by Dixon's guardian, as complements to the importance pueblo people place on the nurturing of their corn crops. They reverently rest on an old dance kilt, worn in ceremonies invoking rain, and thus a bountiful harvest." -L.D. Exhibited "Along the Distant Mesa: An Homage to Maynard Dixon" Mark Sublette Medicine Man Gallery, Tucson, Arizona, March 8-April 30, 2019.
