The Colorado River acts as the southern border of the area, and main access off Interstate 70 is had at this place, called Cameo. While I am not sure where that name originated, I couldn’t resist the cheeky title for this lucky happenstance provided by a rare strong winter storm. One of the things I love about western Colorado is that we are high enough that the desert areas here get snow almost every winter and these storms can create subtle, moody scenes like this one which are intriguing challenges to paint." -Stephen C.
