"The two buttes in this painting are just west of Round Rock, Arizona, on the northern end of the Navajo nation. They are rather striking and can be seen miles away from any direction. On this particular evening they serve as supporting cast to one of the large thunderstorms that occasionally drops welcome moisture on this thirsty land. What caught my interest in this particular sky was the delicate way the very last rays of the sun gently lit up the top of the storm, while at the bottom the rich reds of the setting sun still saturate the newly moistened air." -Stephen C.
