12.5" x 8.5" framed. Acquired from a private collection in Texas. The owner's grandmother lived in Taos during the mid to late 1960s, where she owned a gift shop. She would go to the Taos Pueblo to purchase items for her shop. She moved to Texas in the 1970s and brought her collection with her. This item was passed to the owner from her mother, who had inherited it from her mother. The owner believes that this watercolor has been in the same frame for over 50 years. Percy Sancy (Kai-Sa "Red Moon") was born at the Zuni pueblo in New Mexico. He studied art in Albuquerque and also the Sherman Institute in Santa Fe. Mural commissions by Percy Sandy can be seen at the La Fonda Hotel in Taos, New Mexico and the Black Rock School and Hospital in Black Rock, New Mexico. He also illustrated books.
