Navajo Crystal Runner with Central Waterbug Design c. 1930-40s, 72" x 37"
- Circa: 1930-40s
- Size: 72'' x 37''
This weaving is in very good condition. There is minor spotting near the center. The edges have slight wear, allowing some warps to peek through. There is a small hole near one of the edges, which is approximately 3/4" in size. The selvage is good and the corners are intact. The warp count is 8, and the weft count is 20, per inch. Acquired from a private collection in Arizona. The owner inherited from a friend, who would visit the Navajo reservation and Hopi Pueblo in the 1950-60s, and would purchase directly from the artisans. His parents moved to Arizona in 1947 and purchased a grocery store in Mesa, where they served until 1952 when they founded Van's Mobile Homes, aka called Van's RV Trailer Co., which is now in the Sun City Area.
