Beautifully carved in exquisite detail. Preston Ami is a Hopi carver from Polacca, First Mesa. Talavai (Early Morning) kachina used to appear on housetops in the early morning and sing songs. Excellent condition. The tree is loose in the hand, which is intentional. Glue can be seen at the base of four feathers from the backside, likely original to the making of the kachina. Acquired from a private collection in Arizona.The owners were long-time collectors of Native American arts.They received this as a Christmas gift around 2000 from one of their clients.
