19.75" x 22.75" framed. Museum quality framing. Signed lower center. This painting is in excellent condition. There is some faint writing in pencil in the upper right corner. Gerald Cassidy grew up in the Midwest and moved to New Mexico at age 20 when he was diagnosed with tuberculosis. He painted portraits of Native Americans and scenes of the Southwest for reproduction on postcards. He moved to Denver and established himself as a quality lithographer for work in magazines and ads. He married in 1912 and he and his wife moved to Santa Fe. In 1915 Cassidy was awarded the Grand Prize and Gold Medal for his murals in the Indian Arts Building at the Panama-California International Exposition in San Diego, California. He died in 1934 from lead poisoning while working on a mural for the Federal Building in Santa Fe.
