Original period frame. Signed lower right corner. Titled on verso. This painting is in excellent condition. The frame shows some wear. Maurice Braun was born in Hungary and came to the United States with his family when he was preschool age. His formal art education was at the National Academy of Design in New York City and a year studying with William Merritt Chase. He left New York in 1909 for San Diego, where he opened the San Diego Art Academy. In 1915 he won a gold medal for a painting at the San Francisco Panama Pacific International Exposition in 1915 and he became more widely known on both West and East Coasts. He returned to New England and New York State to in the 1920s to paint the seasonal landscapes there. Acquired from a private collection in Illinois. The painting was originally acquired directly from the artist in 1940, shortly before he passed. In gallery pick up date starts October 14th by appointment. NOTE FEES CHARGED: 1.
