There are two methods by which sculptor Curt Brill creates movement in his work: either through the finger marks of where he placed the clay or through the shape of the form itself.

In Standing Diana, the artist has created almost all the figure’s fluidity through the placement of clay that translates to the bronze’s high-relief texture. (Compare this sculpture to Standing Diana III, where the form itself does most of the work of suggesting movement.)

“This sculpture is solid and grounded - symbolized by her large, sturdy feet,” says Brill. “Yet her long, graceful neck indicates that she could move at any moment.”

Standing Diana has a copper-plated finish, an unusual technique that adds a sheen that enhances the sculpture’s textural appeal. The base is made from multicolored bronze, a finish that took many hours to achieve at the foundry.

The sculpture measures 22" x 6" x 7" and stands on a 1.5" x 7.5" x 9.5" base.

Standing Diana can also be created in a monumental size. Please contact the gallery to discuss the process.
