Cheryl Yestewa Biography

Cheryl Yestewa was born at Keams Canyon, Arizona in 1958 to a Hopi father and Navajo mother and grew up in Phoenix.  She is known for her high quality handmade stone beads.   The self-taught artist uses only the highest quality turquoise, coral, and opal, cutting, rolling and polishing everything by hand.  

Yestewa creates simple and elegant designs calculated to highlight the beauty of the natural materials.  Her work is included in the permanent collections of the National Museum of the American Indian and the Heard Museum.
