31" x 31" framed. Catalina State Park, Tucson, Arizona. ARTIST COMMENTS: A few years back I was in Sutherland Wash in Catalina State Park right as the sun was setting, and I grabbed a small, quick field sketch of this view looking back toward Pusch Ridge. A couple of days prior there had actually been snow in Tucson, and I decided to visit Catalina out of curiosity about how much water would be in the stream. It was the highest I had ever seen it outside of a flash flood. The colors that low sun can produce in the Sonoran Desert never fail to surprise and inspire me. That sketch, and this idea, have stuck with me, and I am pleased to have fully realized it here.
