Artist's Statement: The necessities of life on the prairie required daily labor. On wash day, prairie winds fashioned graceful contours on fresh, crisp sheets. The aesthetics of life were often found in the splendor of these most ordinary tasks. Work made love visible. As a little girl, one of my first memories was helping my grandmother remove the freshly dried sheets from the clothes line. Particularly, on windy days, the billowing of the sheets was magnificent in my child's eye. - Deborah Copenhaver-Fellows, NSS
