Original photogravure produced in Boston by John Andrew & Son. Plate no.52. Caption by Curtis, "San Xavier del Bac is one of the most beautiful of the old Southwestern mission churches. The mission was founded in 1692; the construction of the present church was commenced in 1783 and finished fourteen years later. It has recently been repaired, and is in a good state of preservation."
