Original Frame and Glass. Mint Condition. Exhibited at Art Museum of South Texas, Corpus Christi, "The Grand Canyon: From Dream to Icon", April 17 - August 15, 2009. Chromolithography was an early method of mechanical color printing. Prior to chromolithography, prints were black and white and hand-colored with watercolors. In 1906, Akin was commissioned by the Santa Fe Railway to paint the newly completed El Tovar Hotel at Grand Canyon. The painting became something of a trademark for the Santa Fe Railway, and chromolithographs were then printed. Overall, this is an excellent Akin print to acquire.
