"This piece was composed to represent in all its subtle forms and line a lighthearted look at what might be understood as prairie courtship. From the naturally occurring heart-shaped horn adorning the crown of each male to the ever-present, heart-shaped rump patch that flashes when alerted or excited, nature is indeed generous in helping to define my quest for a choreographed collage of flirtation. Pronghorn antelope truly are unique creatures of the North American Savannahs. They convey a boyish animation with lively gestures, which bring to mind an image of a court of jesters, each competing for the undivided attention of the lovely prairie Lilly, queen of the grasslands." - Richard Loffler |
