Encarnacion Pena is known for his dancing figure paintings. He was awarded by SWAIA in 1957 as the "Best Example of Original Use of Traditional Material". He is in the collection of the Denver Art Museum, Cleveland Museum of Art, the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian, Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Museum of Northern Arizona, Millicent Rogers Museum, Southwest Museum in Los Angeles, and the Laboratory of Anthropology of the Museum of New Mexico.
