'Both noble and mobile with the coming of the horse, Plains Indians revered these animals, counted them as wealth, adorned and glorified them. By acquiring these mounts from the Spanish in the 1600s, their way of life - travel and transport, courtship dowry, hunt, and battle - were all revolutionized.
