'Long before the Spanish arrived in the Southwest, crosses had been worn by Pueblo and Navajo people. The crosses, excavated at abandoned pueblo sites, can be translated into representations of stars or sun given by the sky people who brought light to the world. With a second cross bar added, this symbol is seen as the dragonfly who brings the summer rains. Rains that allowed plants to grow and therefore sustained The People." - Susan Kliewer
