Robert Preston Brackbill - Mesquite Jewelry Box with Black Walnut Hinges and Turquoise Inlay

Living in Arizona has brought to life the beauty of Mesquite for me.  After visiting several galleries in Arizona and seeing what some talented bowl turners created working with mesquite, I had to develop this aspect of working with Mesquite into my own design of jewelry boxes. Turquoise is used to fill openings as if it naturally grew out of the wood. I designed the hinges on the drawer boxes to resemble cowboy boots and using natural leather as a liner makes the boxes more Southwestern style.

Care of the boxes

All my jewelry boxes are hand oiled with liquid beeswax oil then a final furniture paste wax is applied.  Periodically, Mesquite should be re-waxed using a soft nonabrasive cloth and a good furniture paste wax such as min-wax; just follow instructions on the can.
