Includes the original Fred Harvey company tag showing the weaver's name. Dalutso figures are the Dragonfly People. They are sometimes referred to as the insect people, Dontso, as well. In Navajo mythology, the insects were originally much larger than they are today, and they were supreme in the lower world. As symbols of water they are frequently depicted around representations of pools in the center of sandpaintings. They represent messengers between the gods and men. They are also used as guardian figures in sandpaintings as well. The dragonfly is used in many sandpaintings including the Male Shooting Way ceremony and the Blessing Ceremony.
