An original provenance letter accompanies this basket, see picture. This basket is in excellent condition. If one was being very critical when examining this basket, one will see two very minor holes at the base of the basket, showing that it was once displayed on a wall. These holes are very small and difficult to see, so they do not detract from the overall beauty of the basket. On the bottom of the basket is an old trader's inventory number written in pen and the partial remains of an old tag, which are visible in pictures. The basket has no stitch loss or stains and has a very nice patina. Overall, this is an excellent early Chemehuevi basket to add to one's collection.
